Inspired by the crystalline structures of gems, this modernist home was built for a gemologist and her husband. The multifaceted house is oriented on the diagonal with obliquely tilted rooflines and views. Huge windows frame Mt Rainier, downtown Seattle and Mt Baker, and disappearing glass walls create an expansive indoor/outdoor space. Tapered soffits, clerestory windows, a custom Fluorite mural, glass tile and mother-of-pearl countertops continue the gemology theme and invite light to play throughout the house.
